I received a degree on Agricultural Engineering in 2002, a Ph.D. in Plant Protection from the University of Azores in 2011 and currently am a member of the Biotechnology Centre of Azores (CBA).
Presently I work on the study, using landscape genetics methodologies, of ecological corridors for Azorean endemic plant species as a mean for biodiversity conservation.
My overall research interests include next generation sequencing technologies, genetics, landscape genetics and plant conservation, for both endemic plants and agronomic cultures.
My research intends to improve the insular ecosystems (natural and agricultural) namely by understanding the plants phylogeography, species distribution and barriers to its conservation in case of endemics and barriers to widen its distribution in case of cultures with agronomical interest.
